about
Here's the first track from an album-in-progress called 'Drifter'.
It's an optimistic, feelgood snapshot of our lives on the road. We set off in April 2019 - 21 countries and 20,000 miles so far. Obviously, we've had challenges and dramas and COVID-19 has turned things upside down but it's good to remember: we might not have a plan but we have each other - "Long as we're together, we'll be fine".
Featuring pedal steel guitar legend BJ Cole (Sting, The Verve, Elton John, and many more), Jen Stevens on piano and harmonies and Richy Clarke on bass.
lyrics
One hundred days from now
where will we be, you and I?
One thousand miles from here
what will we see, you and I?
Walking on down the line,
Or riding the blinds,
Long as we're together, we'll be fine.
.
Cos you're, you’re my travelling girl,
Cos you’re, you're my travelling girl.
One hundred hours of hard road,
how’ll we get through, you and I?
One thousand hopes and dreams,
what will become of you and I?
Driving on the wrong side of the road,
Hauling a heavy load - with a smile,
Long as we’re together, we'll be fine.
Cos you're, you’re my travelling girl,
Cos you're, you’re my travelling girl.
They said we couldn't do it, they said we were fools,
They said we were throwing everything away.
But everything is nothing if we ain't got each other.
And I wouldn't have it any other way.
So for the next ten hundred days,
and for the next ten thousand dreams.
We’ll go our own way my dear,
and see if we can believe.
Sail out on the early tide,
With the weather on our side,
Hold on together, we'll be fine.
Cos you're, you’re my travelling girl,
Cos you're, you’re my travelling girl.
Cos you're, you’re my travelling girl,
Cos you're, you’re my travelling girl.
